How Alex Muhangi Has Been Minting Millions Even in Lock Down
    • July 10, 2021 • 4 years ago

Ugandan comedian, Alex Muhangi is one of the comedians whose finacial pockets have never rested even when lockdowns were hitting Ugandan economy hardest.

Ofcourse when the country went into the first total local down in March 2020, even Muhangi was affected since he had to say bye bye to his weekly comedy store event at the UMA Show grounds in Lugogo.

The comedian used to mint high amounts of money from a physical audience that would attend the live comedy store show every Thursday in Lugogo at a fee of UGX.20,000 per head.

But regardless of the cancellation of his physical show by Covid-19, the comedian had already made billions of shillings since May 2016 when he first launched his Comedy Store show at Diner's Lounge in Bukoto.

How has Muhangi Been Making Money in Lockdown

Well, after constant begging from his fans that greatly missed the live weekly show, Alex had to think out of the box and try to resuscitate his show.

It's from here that he decided to set up a scientific Comedy Store that would be shown online on the Fezah platform after one purchases a ticket from the same platform.

Alex at that time in August 2020 said the online show was cheaper than his physical event by half because the ticket price was slashed from 20K all the way to 10K and he said this was intended to let his audience have some ka money for Internet cost since the show was to be viewed online.

After a few weeks of trial, the online show started gaining some momentum with Muhagi's team posting small clips of its YouTube.

It's from here that he got a fat endorsement from the ministry of finance that bankrolled his show. The ministry that had a retreat at Speke Resort Hotel in Munyonyo last year, October invited Muhangi and his team to entertain their staff at the end of the week-long retreat.

Then NTV spots him once again

A few weeks after that event, NTV Uganda spotted Alex Muhangi again and proceeded to buy his scientific comedy store after a whole full year of not showing the man's show.

Yes, in 2019, NTV had stopped showing Alex Muhangi's comedy store due to unknown reasons but rumours came through that the station was delaying Alex's payments making him opt out of their contract.

So Alex Muhangi is once again swimming in Millions of shillings after NTV bought rights to his scientific comedy store show and it airs every week on Friday at 8.05pm.
