    in summary
According to Mpuuga, this decision taken by the Supreme Court is all the hope that Ugandans needed to prove to them that justice is alive in Uganda and the justice system is not asleep.

After the arrest of politician Dr. Kizza Besigye, Ugandans were shocked to see him being paraded for a hearing in the Military Court. Not only was his arrest mysterious but the fact that he was not to be tried in the civilians' court was shocking to many Ugandans.

Ugandans therefore were seen giving their views regarding this issue with many of them stating that this is harsh as well as unfair. They then demanded that civilians be treated like so and tried in the civilians' court rather than the military court.

Well, all these prayers have been answered after the Supreme Court has come out and finally ruled in favor of many Ugandans who have been challenging the happening of trial of civilians in the military court.

While delivering the ruling today afternoon, the Chief Justice Alfonse Owiny Dollo ordered that all ongoing as well as pending criminal charges involving civilians in the GCM and other military courts must immediately cease and be transferred to civilian courts without fail.

The Ugandan Supreme Court also went on and declared that the trial of civilians in military courts is very unconstitutional and should be done away with as soon as possible. This is a ruling that has caught the attention of several Ugandans who have therefore taken to their different social media platforms to give their views regarding the matter.

Taking to his different social media platforms, majorly X (former Twitter), many Ugandas have spoken out on this ruling. Among the many that have spoken out is Former leader of opposition Mathias Mpuuga.

According to Mpuuga, this decision taken by the Supreme Court is all the hope that Ugandans needed to prove to them that justice is alive in Uganda and the justice system is not asleep.

He stated that the efforts of the citizens pushing for the power of the civilian Courts to be restored upon them has not gone in vain and they should not stop but rather keep pushing for such important causes.

"The Supreme Court today, in a unanimous landmark decision, has given the country reason to dream and believe again. What we need is judicial consistency to build a durable constitutional order. The Supreme Court decision hands back powers to the civilian courts to adjudicate on matters that relate to the rights of citizens as against an overbearing state desirous of instituting a police state and in the process rehearse a military power grab. The citizens should continue the pushback, assert their rights, and decline the self-drive escort to the regime and its pre-meditated actions. Kudos to comrade Kabaziguruka and the legal team. " he posted.
