Last week, information came out revealing how Eddy Kenzo, a local musician in Uganda had rejected an alcohol deal from a brewery company based in Europe.
The source stated that Eddy had rejected a deal worth US $290,000 from the company which is about 1.03 billion when converted to Ugandan shillings.
In a TV interview, the "Weekend" hit maker came out to throw more light on the failed deal but before saying anything, he confirmed that it was true.
Kenzo said the deal was attempted by the European beer company like 2 years ago and it is not recent like many people think.
The company came to Africa looking for a perfect candidate to promote their beer products all over the continent and in particular picked me out because I have a big following of young people that would most certainly be interested in buying beer....Eddy Kenzo
Why did Eddy Kenzo reject the deal
The musician rejected the Juicy deal mostly because he is a moslem by religion and according to the moslems, one is not allowed to take alcohol because it tantamounts to a sin.
However, he said he can still work with an alcohol company that is if they are merely sponsoring him like the way event promoters do it in Uganda.
But he was not ready for a fully fledged sponsorship deal with a beer company if it required him to be the face of the company and even drink some of their beer at times in their commercials according to their terms and conditions.
