Joseph mayanja known by his stage name Jose chameleone is a Ugandan musician, businessman, father and politician. He was April 30th 1979 and he is currently 44 years old in Kampala the capital city of Uganda to parents Gerald and Prossy mayanja. Chameleone is the fourth child out of his eight sibling, among his siblings weasal, pallaso and the late Ak 47 are the most known.
He is currently married to Daniella Atim Mayanja whom he married in 2008 in a very glamorous wedding which was even believed to have been the wedding of the decay. The two married couple have been married for 15 years. Joseph mayanja has 6 children, his first born being Ayla Onsea Mayanja who was born in May 2002 by Chameleon and his former Belgian wife Griet Onsea alias Dorotia.
The two are said to have met in Nairobi, kenya. And his love for her inspired the famous sing Dorotia. Their marriage, however, did not work out and Dorotia had to leave Uganda with a young Ayla. It was widely reported that in 2007 Chameleone fought very hard to get Ayla’s custody after Griet was allegedly arrested and sentenced to prison in Belgium for being in possession of drugs.
At the moment Ayla is still in Belgium living with her mother. In 2020, she graduated from the university and Jose Chameleone could not hide his joy at his eldest child’s huge milestone.
The rest of his children are Abba Marcus Mayanja who is his eldest son, Alfa Joseph Mayanja, Alba Syne Mayanja, Amma Christian Mayanja and Xara Amani Mayanja.
Joseph Mayanja is an educated man where by he attended Nakasero Primary school for his primary level education, Mengo senior Secondary school , Kawempe muslim school , Katikamu Seventh Day Adventist Senior Secondary School, and Progressive Senior Secondary School for his secondary education. It is believed that he composed the Kawempe muslim School anthem.
Chameleone started his career as a DJ at the Maganjo muzuri night club in kampala while still a student of progressive Secondary school.He became active as a musician in 1998 in Kenya with the Ogopa Deejays, then a Kenyan record label, which released his first single, "Bageya", featuring Kenyan artist Redsan. His music style involves a mixture of different genres that is Ugandan folk, central African rumba, zouk, reggae and dance hall. Chameleone sings in luganda , English and Swahili. This has made him one of Uganda's and East Africa’s best artist. Jose Chameleone released his first album in 2000 and by 2013, he has released a total of 13 albums. Some of them include Kipepeo, Shida za dunia, Valu valu, Bayuda, Badilisha, Sweet Banana and Champion. Some of his hit songs include "Valu valu", "Jamila", "Shida za dunia", Bayuda, "Tatizo", "Nkwagala nyo", "Kipepeo", "Dorotia" and "Kipepeo", this helped him mark a stone has one of East Africa’s best musician and performer.
He is currently said to Leone island music label for which he is the ceo and founder.
His label has helped grow a number of artists like pallaso, radio and weasel, king saha, yung mulo and many other artists.
