While the country is slowly getting back to normal and stakeholders continue calling upon Ugandans to vaccinate against Covid-19, another deadly version of the virus seems to have entered the country as we speak now.
News coming from the Uganda Virus Research Institute (UVRI) show that the B.1.617 'super spreader' has been detected in Kampala. The virus was detected from travellers who returned from India and got checked. The deadly virus is said to attack mostly the young people (35 years below) compared to the normal Covid-19 which mostly affects the elderly.
This virus is running rampage in India, where it kills about 350,000 people on a daily. If this is true, we ought to really be worried, given the level of reluctancy among Ugandans.
