Democratic Party president, Nobert Mao has confirmed to journalists that the Late Speaker of Parliament of Uganda died from Cancer.
He did not declare the exact type of Cancer but according to the hints he was giving, all pointed to blood Cancer because the doctors who were attending to him in Seattle , USA told him that the late needed a transfusion of new cells from a relative in order to try and fight off the cancer for atleast some time.
This was at a time when Mao alongside Oulanyah's brother, Anita Among and other delegates had gone to see the ailing speaker over a week ago. The team found him in a very dire state in which he could only recognise them but not talk.
Jacob Oulanyah's brother was specifically invited in order to see if his cells and tissue could be transplanted into Oulanyah's body since his genetic composition as a brother would ideally be matching with Oulanyah's.
By the time Jacob died, the doctors had told Mao and his colleagues that they were only trying to relieve the late from excruciating pain but there was not much they were doing to make him recover and it was only a matter of time until he kicked the bucket.
Mao said, he only cried and looked more sad as the delegation sat by his bed side in the intensive care unit of University of Washington, Medical Centre.
Nobert Mao dismisses poison talks
The DP president also dismissed the loose talk around town that the former speaker was poisoned. He said it has never been true and will never so people should not even try to speculate it because the man was actually sick for some time.
President Museveni has also added his voice to this point when he ordered for the arrest of whoever was spreading the poison stories. He said the Police will definitely arrest such people because it seems they have some information they know that others do not know of.
Museveni who was speaking at the election of the new speaker of Parliament at Kololo airstrip on Friday also added that Oulanyah before being admitted in the US had previously been admitted to a big hospital in Dubai, UAE and other top hospitals in Kampala, Uganda including the Mulago Cancer institute.

So instead of poison, Mao suggested what could have caused Oulanyah's cancer.
He told Journalists that during a strike in 1990 at Makerere University, Oulanyah who happened to be the guild speaker at the time when Mao was guild president, was beaten mercilessly by police men.
They used a but of a gun several times on his (Jacob) body which ended up injuring his internal organs and it is from here that he went for an operation at Mulago that saw his spleen removed.
The spleen is vital in filtering of blood in the body meaning that if someone doesn't have it, he is highly susceptible to diseases like Cancer of the blood which killed Oulanyah.
