During a seating earlier today at the City Hall, councillors proposed a bill to have a road named after the late Bishop Cyprian Kizito Lwanga. The former archbishop of the catholic church passed on a day before Easter celebrations, on 3rd/April/2021 due to heart failure.
The proposed road is in Nsambya and currently called Estate road. I stretches from Total Nsambya to Nsambya hospital to American embassy to the Kabalagala-Kansanga junction. The proposed name is Cyprian Kizito Lwanga road.
However, the hearing was disrupted by some members who also wanted a road to be named after former UTODA chairman now a deceased, Hajj Katongole. This caused disagreements as a number of members said the man had public wrangles to his name and others said he did great for UTODA and NRM.
The house failed to come to a conclusion. Some members proposed that the new taxi park, old taxi park or a taxi stage in one of the parks can be named after Hajj Katongole but not a full road.
Do you think the archbishop deserves a road in his name? Does Hajj Katongole also deserve one too or there more important personalities to be honored with road named?
