Kadaga dropped by CEC, to come as an independent
    • May 23, 2021 • 4 years ago

"Fellow Ugandans, I have come to inform the people of Uganda that my party has opted not to give me the party flag for speaker of parliament. I have therefore decided to run as an independent." These were the words of the former speaker of parliament, Iganga woman MP Rebecca Kadaga.

The battle of who'd bare the NRM flag come tomorrow during the voting of Speaker of the 11th parliament was between Kadaga and her former deputy Jacob Oulanyah. However, after the announcement of results, NRM election commity CEC announced Jacob Oulanyah as the party's flag barer.

This sent shockwaves through Kadaga's team and many Ugandans. But Kadaga during the discussion at Hotel Africana, she announced how she's going to come as an individual and gave reasons why she was dropped.

"The reason I am being pushed is that I continue to speak for ordinary people. I appeal to the people of Uganda to ask your representatives to do the needful. Thank you." She said.

The race for speakership is strongly between Jacob Oulanyah, Rebecca Kadaga and Honorable Ssemujju Nganda of FDC. Tomorrow is indeed going to be a very busy day. Who's side are you on?
