There is a growing trend of Ugandan Musicians losing their social media pages especially the ones on Facebook to unknown people.
Most of the times, our musicians tell us that they lose the pages to hackers who have gained access to them.
The pages sometimes are recovered but other times they are lost forever and our musicians simply move on and create new ones.
Here is the Top List of Ugandan Musicians whose Facebook Pages have ever been hacked
1. Pallaso
Pius Mayanja also known as Pallaso is the most recent musician to lose his Facebook page and this was to unknown people 3 weeks ago. He revealed this through his Instagram account to a fan called Amanda that was desperately searching for the page and he to her, him and his team were trying to recover it.
2. Jose Chameleone
Joseph Mayanja also known as Jose Chameleone has lost his Facebook page before and coincidentally he is a brother to Pallaso whom we mentioned above. Chameleone lost his page to hackers in 2018 after a malicious post was put on it claiming that he had parted ways with wife, Daniella Atim.
But many people after some time said that Chameleone hacked the page himself in order to promote his upcoming concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
3. Cindy Sanyu
Female songstress, Cinderella Sanyu lost her Facebook page in late 2014 to hackers who kept posting a lot of nonsense. The hackers at one time posted a picture of the then Miss Uganda, Leah Kalanguka and captioned it like this “Miss Uganda is really ugly, now you know the truth”.
They posted other weird things like pictures of male genitals and even went ahead to trash the music of Goodlyfe duo, Radio and Weasel where the hackers said the duo was "singing nonsense".
Cindy later, after regaining control of her fb page, came out to defend herself and told people that her page was hacked for over 5 months
4. Fik Fameica
Ever since his maiden concert flopped at the end of 2018, Fik Fameica fell into problem after problem which included separating with his manager, Karma Ivien. At around that same time, he lost his verified Facebook page to hackers who then started posting only weired things like random videos showing white people.
This went on for the entire 2019 and fans of Fik Fameica had to pack their bags and relocate to Instagram where the real Fik would reach them and he frequently posted on insta that he was not the one controlling his Facebook page and was in the process of trying to regain it.
5. Chosen Becky
Last but not least on today's list is singer Chosen Becky of the Bankuza hit song. The singer lost her Facebook page twice!
In 2020 she decided to create herself new social media accounts including Facebook in order to streamline her music content with her fans and this was because she had lost her old accounts.
But a few months later, her new fb page which had been verified also got hacked, forcing her to release a statement on the incident;
“Hey my beloved fans.. M sorry to inform u all that my old social media handles where all hacked..kindly follow me on my new social media handles in “chosen becky MUSIC”. Here is the link to my new YouTube channel. Stay safe.
