Arsenal and Liverpool are both interested in signing Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow.
It is reported that Liverpool were interested in Justin Bijlow before they snapped up Arne Slot from Feyenoord. The Dutch goalkeeper has made 93 appearances for Feyenoord under manager Arne Slot.
Arsenal are in search of a replacement for Aaron Ramsdale and are ready to compete with Liverpool to secure the signature of Justin Bijlow.
Justin Bijlow is apparently open to leaving Feyenoord.
He said the following to Voetbalzone;
Will I stay at Feyenoord? You never know, do you? That's football. You never know that. I'm ambitious, I've always said that. If the opportunity presents itself and a good club comes from abroad, I am open to it. I've always said that. As long as I am under contract with Feyenoord, that is never a punishment and I will give everything as long as I play there.
He was also asked about the interest from Arsenal and Liverpool and he replied with the following statement;
Those are two very nice clubs. Of course it is always nice to be mentioned at big clubs. As I said, I'm ambitious. As long as I play for Feyenoord I will give everything for that and first I just want to focus on the Dutch team.
Justin Bijlow was pursued by Manchester United 12 months ago but they instead opted to sign Andre Onana from Inter Milan.
He said the following about that situation;
That's also football, isn't it? You never know when something will or won't happen. They made the choice for someone else at the time, but I'm happy I got to spend another season playing for Feyenoord.
Liverpool are also interested in Porto midfielder Alan Varela. The Argentine has shone since he made his move to Porto in the summer.
According to an Argentine journalist, Liverpool have already begun formal talks with Porto for the player. If the deal breaks through, Boca Juniors, Alan Varela's former club would get 20 percent of the money made from the deal.
Alan Varela has a €70 million release clause in his contract which would see Boca Juniors receive €14 million.
Liverpool have apparently been tracking the Argentine's progress for years.
Liverpool scouts attended a number of Boca Juniors matches to track his progress before he made the switch to Porto in 2023.
