Uganda's renowned entertainment guru and Tv personality has come public to narrate his entire journey of acquiring HIV/AIDS.
For starters in 2019, MC Kats set Ugandans' tongues waging after revealing that he is HIV postive.
The self proclaimed king of the Mic made the announcement during one of the Celebrity Nights at Fame Lounge in Kampala.
He revealed that he was admitted to a hospital in London because his pneumonia was on a whole other level.
“Whoever said I was mad, I was taken into a body machine, a brain-machine and all other processes until the white man said I needed to be discharged because I didn’t have any problem. I refused and told them how they wasted my time because I have pneumonia and AIDS and that it’s what they should help me with,” Kats said.
He further mentioned that:
“So base your abuses towards me knowing I’m on international medication. Abuse me if you can afford me. If you can afford a hospital in London, go treat your AIDS, cancer, and diabetes in London and call me back. That’s the truth. I have all these things documented and I will put them on social media. I told the white man now that you know I’m not mad, treat my HIV and Pneumonia. I’m on medication and I’m not even drinking.
During the first episode of his narrative which streamed on his ‘MC Kats Foundation’ YouTube channel on Sunday May 5, 2024, NBS After5 co-host revealed that he contracted the virus while he was still a student at Mwiri college -Butiki
Back then, MC Kats and his colleagues developed a vice of skipping clases just in the name of hanging out with female students in nightclubs.
The end result of all that recklessness gave birth to a setback in his health status when he contracted the HIV, a virus he has lived with for more than a decade now.
It should however be noted that although Kats has faced lots of challenges courtesy of his health status, he has emerged as a beacon of hope for those living with HIV/AIDS.
Celebrating over 13 years since his diagnosis, MC Kats continues to pursue his career with determination and resilience.
Over the past three years, MC Kats has become a prominent advocate for individuals living with HIV/AIDS.
