Makerere University has been ranked the fifth best institution in Africa in the latest 2020 World University Rankings by the Times Higher Education which simply manifests that the university is also the best in East Africa, Central Africa, West Africa and Nothern Africa because makerere's only rivals were southAfrican institutions.
“Its auspicious seeing Makerere University hold her position among the top five universities in the continent despite last month's university ranking scheme known as Webometrics that placed Makerere University in a very unsual position "16" in Africa, this was largely attributed, to increasing strikes at the Ivory Tower.
