A while back, Ugandan chef Dorcus Basheba Kirabo, who is popularly known as Mama D was seen attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon by an individual. As she submitted her results however, it was unfortunate that it was out competed however.
Mama D grabbed the world record after cooking for 114 hours during her highly popularized cookathon which was in Kampala. Her record, however, was snatched by another chef named Failatu Abdul-Razak from Ghana who completed 227 hours of cooking.
In January this year, however, Mama D announced that she would give the world record another shot. She explained that Guinness World Record had asked her to resubmit clearer evidence as the evidence she submitted was a bit blurry and it was rather unclear.
She stated that she was not disqualified but rather had to provide clearer evidence to be able to compete for the championship. At that time, she cited pending registration and clearance from the Guinness World Records.
Well, Mama D is back, fresh and vibrant and so ready to take the crown home. Currently, Mama D has started on the cookathon in a bid to reclaim her Guinness World Record for longest cooking time by an individual. The quite energetic chef yesterday kicked off the record attempt for the longest cooking marathon by an individual.
By today morning, she had clocked just over 24 hours and served several dishes to her fans who gathered to cheer her on at High Note Bar in Kireka. For a person that has been working since yesterday, Mama D still looks quite energetic and she looks so determined to break this record.
Mama D appeared so energetic as she embarked on the record attempt. According to Mama D, She is aiming for 192 hours and this will be approximately seven days from June 1 to June 8, 2024. She has therefore called upon anyone that wants to support her and eat good food to turn up and be of support.
“I’m reattempting to break the @GWR for the longest Cookathon by an individual. Come through, eat some nice food, drink some nice drinks and have a great time!” she posted on X.
The Guinness World Records is known from its inception in 1955 until 1999 as The Guinness Book of Records and in previous United States editions as The Guinness Book of World Records. For those that may not know, it is a British reference book published annually, listing world records both of human achievements and the extremes of the natural world.
