Members of Superstars Association Dodge UG Connect Concert, Now Begging in Gulu
    • July 17, 2021 • 4 years ago

Members belonging to musician, Jose Chameleone's Super Stars Association have dodged the maiden UG Connect online concert that aired on Next Media Channels, NBS and Sanyuka TV today.

This is after the members failed to reach an agreement with the organisers of the UG Connect concert which is going to be airing every Saturday 4pm to 7pm and will be paying artistes for their performances.

David Lutalo who is one of the members clearly posted on his social media pages some days before today that he was not to perform at the show although his face was advertised on the artistes that were supposed to perform.

He said, his management and the organisers failed to reach an agreement and therefore he had to pull out of the show but also said if the organisers changed some conditions then he would probably come through for the show.

Halima Namakula, a legendary female musician who is part of the team that organises the online concert exclusively told NBS before the show that she had received communication from the Superstars Association, that its musicians who are the members will not be able to perform at any UG Connect concert.

She also received a call from the president, Chameleone earlier in the day who was begging her to follow him and a small delegation to Gulu to meet General Saleh in order to receive money that will compensate them as musicians for being in a 1 and a half year lockdown.

    So what does this mean

This means, Chameleone and his team of superstars at the moment are all camped in Gulu where general Salim Saleh stays in order to beg money from him.

The spokesperson of the Uganda Superstar Musicians Association, Pius Mayanja also known as Pallaso two weeks ago also spoke about the development saying they were already in high level talks with Saleh about their covid relief package as musicians.

Pallaso also said that their association was working with Cindy's Uganda Musicians Association to ensure both associations which are under Uganda Musicians Federation receive the money once it comes from general Saleh.
