Legendary media personality Miles Rwamiti has come out to talk of the current wave of vulgar songs that are winning over the internet in today’s era of entertainment.
Just as the constant debate has always been, many people disagree with musicians resorting to vulgarity to earn quick fame in the music industry. Here has been a debate however that when musicians release music that is considered sensible with hope of uplifting the music industry, their music is shunned by music lovers and it is most definitely not embraced.
Many have argued therefore that when they add a touch of vulgarity to music beats, their songs are highly welcomed and very many people enjoy such music so it is actually the kind of music that is getting recognition in the industry currently.
One person that has currently demonstrated this so vividly is Lil Pazo. With all the music he released over the years, he was struggling as the last hit song he had ever made was his coming onto the scene song dubbed Emotoka. For the other songs, they were unrecognized. When he switched to “enkudi" however, things really looked up for him, something that made him realize that vulgar lyrics were on trend.
Well, Rwamiti has weighed in on the current wave of artists composing and singing vulgar lyrics in their songs just to gain fame and he does not support this current trend. According to Miles, these vulgar songs are completely rubbish and he believes it is one of the reasons why the Ugandan music industry is still lagging behind compared to the rest of the nations that it used to be at the same pace with.
He believes that other countries sing music that will last for generations, songs that everyone will listen to even after years(more like the Mowzey Radio kind of music) while Uganda is choosing vulgar music and bubble gum music that lasts a moment then fades.
During his interview with Sanyuka TV, Miles chose to caution artists who do such kind of music with vulgar lyrics to re-evaluate themselves and think better before they release new music so as to elevate the music industry.
“Singing vulgar lyrics is total rubbish. When you compose and sing vulgar lyrics your fame will be short-lived and I don’t believe that kind of music is taking our music industry anywhere. I think artists doing that should check and re-evaluate themselves on that again.” He stated
According to him, musicians opt for this method just because they want quick fame yet this kind of fame, in his opinion is just short lived.
“What leads them to compose such songs is the fact that they don’t spend much time creating their songs. They’re always in a hurry and rush to become stars and want to own posh cars and houses in a very bad and very short period.” He said
