The Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Health Dr. Diana Atwine
has been using social media to inform the public of the on going plan for the covid-19 vaccine.
The vaccine is not yet available as it us being tested to ensure safety of Ugandans.
The first major groups of priority that will receive the vaccine when it is available include Security team, media team, Medical personnel, teachers, people aged 55 years and above, those aged below 55 years with underlying conditions such as high blood pressure, asthma etc.
Furthermore, those who work in the commercial sector like bankers, URA too will receive the vaccine.
The vaccine will be sold to the private sector though.
Those who have been sick with COVID can fight off the virus for up to 8 months but still need the vaccine to prolong the protection period.
