When we start talking about the financial struggles that musicians experience every day in their journey to fame, many people are in disbelief. Being a musician in Uganda is pretty much tougher than being a musician anywhere else.
While people are of the view that every musician is well off simply because they hold the title ‘musicians’, these people need to be reached out to more than anyone else because no one could ever understand the struggles that they face every single day.
Musician Cosign Yenze came into fame with his song “Ndi Mulokole" and he had a promising career. Behind all that however it seems like no one knew exactly what was going on in his life. Apparently, Cosign is currently struggling and as people go on to call him a faded artiste, they are only picking at his wounds and rubbing salt into them (no one ever wakes up and wants to be remembered as a faded artiste to begin with).
According to Cosign, he did so much in order to earn the name “Cosign Yenze’ as an artist as he lost so much and sacrificed so much yet people who call him faded will never see that!
“For those who Call Cosign a faded artist you don't know how much I have lost just to have that name. I lost a family a son for now from 2018 till date I haven't seen my son just because of music I have invested over 100M salary money from IT job just release the songs you want.” He stated
According to Cosign, despite releasing good music that has reached beautiful places, he has never even reached the beautiful places his music has been to, something that makes him feel helpless.
“My songs have even taken airplanes slept in big house I have never rented a house above 400k. At a point DJ ciza yasuzaako nga bagobye munjju that’s why he’s my brother in lock down. Am not saying this nti kweswaza but my hustle is not for jokes.” He bitterly stated.
Cosign further stated that many artistes think he is a planned kid yet he has been through many times of struggle than he can ever recall. He recalls he even attempted suicide back in 2021 but received help from Methia Nabawanda who was his girlfriend by then.
“Artistes think am rich kid but I take care of myself so as not to look broke coz everyone is going thru shit. In 2021- 2022 I was about to commit suicide. Methia nabawanda helped me to over come it she was my girlfriend now she is just my friend. Man its all been God.” He stated
Cosign says he is saying all this not to face criticism but it is too much on him to keep silent anymore. He has therefore called out to anyone who believes in his talent to reach out a helping hand.
“Am saying all this coz there is a lot I have contributed musically but am burning out. For those whole still think I can contribute musically to this industry support me if you can naye awatali ekyoo nfaa. for GOD and my country.” He stated
