Ray G believes that not everyone that criticizes you is actually saying something bad about you as there is criticism that is meant to add on to a musician, more so when it is coming from their fans.

Many musicians do not like the idea of facing criticism most especially from people on the internet. Well, Ray G believes criticism is not an entirely bad thing.

Musician Ray G staged a very successful concert in Kampala recently and it has been the talk of town for a while now. As he is preparing for his Homecoming concert back home in Mbarara on 22nd of June, Ray G was hosted on Sanyuka TV to give a word to his fans.

In the studio, he was asked how he is able to handle criticism from different people, more so when it comes to the topic of regional artistes considering that personally, he has always received a lot of criticism even regarding his private life.

According to Ray G however, the way he handles criticism is by listening to it. Ray G believes that not everyone that criticizes you is actually saying something bad about you as there is criticism that is meant to add on to a musician, more so when it is coming from their fans.

He stated that for such criticism, he always gives an ear to listen to it and when it seems beneficial and there are areas where he needs to check himself and improve, he is sure to always work on that. He stated that for criticism that is actually meant to improve his brand, he always listens but if the criticism is meant to break his brand or tarnish his reputation, he always ignores it as best as he can.

“I listen to every criticism. I always listen. If I find it constructive, I always take it the right way. If it requires me to change myself, you will see me checking my self and changing. However if that criticism is meant to tarnish my brand or break me, I always ignore it. “ he stated.

Ray G further went on to state that every one is entitled to their own opinion and he will never stop anyone from giving their own views about his music or even him as a musician but he is still not one to take disrespect on a platter.

“Everyone has an opinion and I respect that. You will never find me having an issue with that. The difference comes in when disrespect is involved. I can never take that.” He stated.

In regards to the comments that he is a tough person, Ray G was quick to dispel this, stating that it always depends on a situation but he still does not consider himself a harsh or tough person.
