Musicians struggling with mental health is becoming a rather common yet sensitive topic today.
People look at musicians like they have it all or maybe like they have already made it in life but no one really knows what happens behind closed doors. We have heard very many stories of musicians suffering with mental health issues but the problem is that they do not have anyone to share their mental burdens with.
You see, being a musician comes with a reputation to uphold so in most cases, musicians struggle to hold themselves up while in public, majorly for fear of losing their public image and their reputation.
Another challenge musicians face as people who happen to be in the spotlight is fear of being judged by the public. Since they are famous, they in most cases are under pressure because one single mistake could become a terrible story in the news and on tabloids so many prefer to actually suffer in silence than come out to be judged and made laughing stocks.
Like many musicians that have come out and confessed to having struggled with suicidal tendencies, Shammy K has also come out to share her story during the Deep Talk Show with Mr. Henrie on Galaxy TV. Shammy K has a heart breaking story as tears run down her face even when she is narrating her story.
Shammy K recollects trying to end her life at the time when she was living alone. According to Shammy K, she was ready to end it all because nothing seemed to be going her way. Fortunately however, just as she was ready to end it all, she received a life changing call from none other than her mom.
“Yes, I was ready to end it all. Nothing was going my way so while I was living alone, I decided to end my life. But I was stopped by the call I got from my mom.” She narrated
According to Shammy K, her mother asked whether she was okay, to which she replied that she was but while lying to her mother, she was in tears. Shammy recollects that her mother sensed she was lying about it and called her back home.
“She asked me if I was okay. I told her I was fine but I was in tears. She sensed that I was lying and she told me to speak about what was bothering me. This is when I told her I was just suffering from Malaria but I would be okay. Mama told me to go back home but I declined. She then asked me if she should come over and I refused, saying I would treat the malaria first and then go home to her.” She stated.
