Nyumbani stands out as one of the most remarkable song collaborations ever created by Goodlyfe.
The team behind its creation consisted of talented individuals who played a crucial role in its success.
Radio and Weasel, Viboyo as the featuring artist, Benon Mugumbya as the producer, Jeff Kiwa as the Goodlyfe manager, Aziz Azion as the guitarist, and Bashir Lukyamuzi as the video director all contributed their skills and expertise to make this song a masterpiece.
During a recent appearance on Vybe Life, Viboyo shared the story behind the making of Nyumbani. Jeff Kiwa approached him one day, expressing his struggle to find a good song.
In response, Goodlyfe decided to offer him a collaboration opportunity. Radio, upon hearing the idea, invited Viboyo to their residence in Nyanama to begin working on the song.
The following day, they gathered together, and Radio instructed Weasel to create a beat while he discussed the song's concept with Viboyo. Radio suggested that they focus on a woman's frustration with marriage, and he came up with the word "Nyumbani," which he repeatedly sang over Weasel's beat. Viboyo then added his own contribution to the song.
The next day, Radio made some adjustments to Viboyo's lyrics, and Jeff proposed that they record the song with Benon Mugumbya.
Initially, Benon was not fond of the song, but at Jeff's suggestion, Aziz Azion added a captivating guitar rhythm to it.
Impressed with their creation, Jeff wasted no time in telling Viboyo to borrow money because they had created a hit. It wasn't until eight months later, when Benon was performing in Gulu with Vampino, that he realized the song had become a hit there. He immediately contacted Viboyo to share the news.
Recognizing the song's potential, Benon suggested making a music video and promised to contribute to its production.
However, Viboyo faced difficulties in raising the necessary funds for the video. In a generous gesture, Weasel provided him with some of the clothes he wore in the video. Eventually, they reached out to Bashir Lukyamuzi, who was running Badi Films at the time, to direct the video.
Despite the challenges faced along the way, the collaborative efforts of these talented individuals resulted in the creation of Nyumbani, a song that has left a lasting impact on the Ugandan music industry.
