Just recently, Gravity Omutujju came out and announced that he is soon to hold a concert dubbed Embaga Ya Isma N'Amina. For his venue, Gravity Omutujju decided to stage his concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval and as for the date, he chose to stage his concert on 7th September 2024.
“Concerts have been staged this year, local and international, artists have performed but non has equaled the level of the magnetic and electrifying performance of the only Ugandan who steps on stage and everyone runs for oxygen, Ladies and gentlemen the wait is over and it’s on 07 sept 2024 at Lugogo cricket oval the only venue for proven artists. Prepare your dancing shoes and get ready to groove with me and we celebrate EMBAGA YA ISMA N’AMINA tukube party paka kuwulira bubi.” Gravity announced via his Facebook.
Only a few days later however, Bobi Wine's brother Mikie Wine has come out to announce his concert on the same day of Gravity Omutujju's anticipated concert. Mikie Wine's concert which has been dubbed “Tusaabale ku Jahazi Pier Munyonyo,” is apparently also to be held on the same date, only at a different location.
Mikie Wine also took to Facebook to share his poster announcing this concert, something that has sparked heavy reactions from many music lovers.
It’s Time TUSAABALE ku Jahazi pier munyonyo. Mark the date. Sulubadaabaadabadaaaa.” Mikie Wine posted.
Gravity Omutujju being a long term nemesis of musician turned Politician Bobi Wine, many netizens believe this is a direct challenge from the brothers as they are trying to reduce the turn up levels at Gravity's concert. A few netizens have stated that once Bobi Wine endorses Mikie Wine's concert, it is completely over for Gravity as he will only count a handful of turn up.
This is the major reason why the clash of dates was easily noticed by netizens. Many are already putting Gravity's concert down and stating that whatever may happen should but they are going to attend Mikie Wine's concert.
Some have even stated that even if he does not sing a sing song, he could just switch on a generator and they would gladly turn up to listen to it, simply because he is in the same camp with Bobi Wine, who is considered the major game changer.
Many have stated that they believe Mikie Wine's choice to stage a concert on the same day as Gravity Omutujju is simply a strategy by the red camp and they are bringing in a dose of politics on the musical scene.
Sadly however, even when a few people were being sympathetic with Gravity Omutujju in regards to this clash, many are actually welcome to the idea of Bobi Wine's brother challenging Gravity Omutujju.
In your own opinion, do you deem this move political or simply strategic?
