Barely a day after the fully packed concert at Ddungu Resort in Munyonyo in Kampala, singer Omah Lay has been arrested by the Uganda Police.
Omah Lay together with Ivan Ddungu the manager of the place where the concert was held and Prim Kasana the events manager who contracted the singer to sing were all arrested and are currently detained at Katwe Police Station in Kampala.
This came after several rants from Ugandans about the unfairness the Police was exhibiting towards them. In March this year, the president set directives that led to the closure all sorts of entertainment hangout spots and events attracting crowds of more than 200 people were banned in an effort to reduce the spread of Corona disease in Uganda.
So the Uganda Police has always been invading any suspected gatherings to arrest people involved because it was now against the Presidential directives in Uganda.
Shortly after the arrest, the police issued a statement where they accused the organisers for lying to them that the event was only about brunch (breakfast-lunch) but instead turned it into a massive concert that took place in the night.
