It was black at the parliament premises earlier today, as MPs paid their last respects to the now deceased former MP, the late Jacob Oulanyah. The August house was full to the brim, with the body being welcomed by the newly elected speaker, Hon. Anita Among alongside her deputy, Hon. Thomas Tayebwa. Present were cabint and state ministers, led by prime mimister Hon. Robinah Nabbanja.
Many of the MPs gave heartwarming messages about the late speaker, while others questioned the neglect infested in health centres which leads to dignitaries being flown out for better treatment and some, like Oulanyah, come back dead.
Kira Municipality MP, Hon. Ssemujju Nganda decried the mishandling of Oulanyah's death, which was filled with public outroars on the budget that had initially been released to cater for his burial. "There things that have annoyed me, first the mishandling of his death. Of course I can't accuse this govenment of competence. You needed to explain to the public what it means to accord someone a state funeral, it is extremely expensive. Everyday you'd be compalining this is the budget, this is the budget." said Hon. Ssemujju
What however left the house in awe was the response from the new speaker, Hon. Among to Bukomansimbi North MP's request. Hon. Ndagire Christine requested the the speaker to allow the MPs to set there last eyes onto their former boss. In her reponse, Hon. Among said she had seen the late on behalf of the parliament and had dressed him in the parliamentary robes.
