Today on the 16th of March 2020, numerous organizations and NGOs in partnership with the ministry of children took over 100 children off the streets.
Most of these children were begging money on major roads and busy areas around the city.
Majority of them were found on Kampala road, Jinja road, Kansanga among others.
These children cried and begged not to be taken back home because of the very poor conditions and suffering they undergo while there.
Some even said their parents send them onto the streets to beg for money that will buy them their next meal.
It is known that most of these children are 14 years and below and majority of the girls are usually pregnant or have babies.
No one knows how they make their way onto the streets to beg since some come from far districts of Uganda.
The children have been taken to children's homes where they will receive food, accommodation and will be taught hand work skills to help them in future.
