Comedy duo Maulana and Reign recently came out and re-did the song dubbed ‘Miracle’ which originally belonged to Pastor Bugembe. In so doing, they turned the song political and in favor of the opposition, something that made netizens wonder whether Pastor Bugembe was choosing a political side.
Many netizens thought he was in on the song too and many even concluded that he could have aided in the writing of this song dubbed Musenze by the comedy duo. Well, Pastor Bugembe has come out to deny all these claims. According to the City Pastor, even when it is undeniable that the song’s production beats were borrowed from his popular song “Miracle,” he emphasizes that he had no involvement in the creation or execution of Musenze.
According to him, he even had no idea that his song had been turned political until one of his colleagues called him and asked him whether he had given in his popular song for a remake to be turned political. He recalls that upon checking the song, he was surprised because he previously did not know of its existence.
“I was also not in the know. I only learned about the song Musenze when my colleague called me to ask if I had given permission for my song to be turned political to which I declined. When I checked out the song however, I was also surprised. I had no idea it had been turned political.” Said Bugembe.
Pastor Bugembe, who expressed his disappointment in Maulana and Reign for using the song without his consent, particularly for politics. This is when he stated that he has always remained neutral as he does not involve himself in politics. According to Pastor Bugembe, he would love to be seen as a Pastor and not a person that took political sides.
“I don’t know if there is any one that thinks like me but I would love to maintain my neutrality. I want to embrace bot NUP and NRM members into my church without being biased in any way. I want everyone to be comfortable when they come to worship with us. This is why I choose neutrality.” Said Pastor Bugembe.
Pastor Bugembe also made it clear that he likes both Museveni and Bobi Wine on the same levels and he has his reasons for liking both of them
“I like both Bobi Wine and President Museveni. I have my reasons for liking both of them and I expect people to respect that.” He stated.
“Musenze” by Maulana and Reign is interpreted as an indirect political prayer, with the pair appealing to God to relieve the country from the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) government, expressing their discomfort with its governance.
