Heavy deployment is being witnessed right now at Makerere University as the students brace themselves for the worst.

It all began early morning where all students had planned to go to the Parliament in opposition to the removal of the Age Limit. Students dressed in red undergraduate gowns could be seen at about 7 am walking in groups around the campus especially around the Lumumba and Mary Stuart halls.

Lecture rooms were almost empty with few serious students eagerly waiting for the lecturers. Some serious lecturers hardlined and started lecturing but within a few minutes, they were out of the place giving exuses such as "I want to protect my car from vandalisaton"

Some of the demonstration's leaders have been arrested including FDC Makerere Chapter leaders such as Wanyera Simon and Ainebyona Ronald and immediately after this, Police went ahead to fire tear gas into some halls of residence which made the demonstration to come to a small stand still.

After that one of Uganda Police's choppers landed at the freedom square and we suspect it had a big police official inside, but then it had lift off shortly after it had landed and made several air patrols around the University but later left.
