On 1st June 2021, an attempt to kill General Wamala Katumba was made.
Bullets were shot at his Land Cruiser in Kisasi and his daughter and driver were killed in this sad incident.
Cameras and eye witness testimonials were to be used to arrest the culprits, as per the police spokesperson.
In a video footage from the street cameras, the boda boda shooters were seen moving and following the General's car from Bukoto to Kisasi were they opened fire.
However, it seems the police is now looking for anyone to blame for what happened.
News reaching our desk is everyone who works in that area (Kitosi) and the people who happened to be on that road that fateful day have been arrested.
One of those arrested are S.3 students. Musoobozi Charles and his friends happened to be shopping at some shops when a black van pulled over and arrested them.
These boys were planning for school since it opens on Monday next week.
It is said that the day when the incident happened, they were 500m away from the crime scene buying stationary.
Family and friends of these boys were informed the next day.
The boys alongside other civilians have been kept in Kira Police Station prison cells for four days now.
Loved ones have been trying to secure bail and bond for the kids but all has been in vain.
One of the relatives of the boys, Obbo Francis Able took his frustration to social media and asked for fairness and help from the general.
My brother and his friends have been arrested as suspects in the attempted assassination of general Wamala Katumba... Dear General Wamala Katumba, we send our condolences to you and your family but please do something about the wrongs the police is doing now. They are simply looking for someone to blame.
This has angered many citizens who feel like the police is always failing them in such cases.
All the assassinations of important people that happened in the previous years are still unsolved.
No arrests of the real culprits were made but rather, the police would arrest innocent civilians as suspects.
General Wamala Katumba is yet to respond.
