The latest on the grapevine indicates that the assault allegations against Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone are currently under investigation by the police.
Chameleone, legally identified as Joseph Mayany is facing accusations of assaulting Cynthia Nagawa, also known as Sencere Music, a young female artist.
According to Sencere, the incident occurred on the morning of Saturday, June 9, when Chameleone allegedly tried to strangle her.
The rising star singer also claims that the renowned artist caused injuries to her face, arms, and abdomen.
Now, Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Luke Owoyesigire has confirmed that investigations are ongoing and stated that Chameleone will be required to report himself to provide a statement.
Sencere filed the case at Kira Road Police Station on Sunday morning. Owoyesigire stated that Sencere alleged the assault took place at Casablanca bar in Kololo during the early hours of June 9.
The police have recorded a statement from Sencere and provided her with a form to be filled out by doctors to confirm her injuries.
The police will now summon Chameleone to make a statement as part of their investigation.
"We recorded a statement from her and gave her a form which she took to doctors that confirmed that she was hurt"We are now investigating all these allegations, and we are now going to summon him (Chameleone) to make a statement," Owesigire said.
Meanwhile earlier today, Sencere talked about the negative reactions she received online and from certain media sources after claiming she was sexually harassed by the Leone Ilsand Entertainment emperor.
Critics on social media called her "toxic" as the story gained attention. Sencere mentioned that some media outlets are trying to discredit her by spreading false information about her past.
She pointed out inconsistencies in reports and old posts from the Covid lockdown being brought up incorrectly. Sencere stated that accusations of seeking attention and fame from Chameleone are false as she has evidence to support her claims.
She presented an assault case she filed against him at Kira Road Police Station along with a medical report from the police doctor detailing injuries on her lower abdomen and neck causing pain and bruising.
The report also mentioned scratches on her left arm and chin that were recent and inflicted by a sharp object according to the medical report issued yesterday.
By the time of publishing this story, Chameleone had not come out to say a word regarding the allegations.
