Yesterday morning, Uganda received the sad news of the killing of Brenda Nantongo Wamala, daughter of General Wamala Katumba and his driver Haruna Kayondo.
This attack happened around Kisasi when armed men travelling on boda bodas opened fire at their land Cruiser car.
The aim of these men is still unknown though many believe their intention was to kill General Wamala Katumba.
The police is still on the hunt for them and is using CCTV cameras and testimonials of witnesses to catch them.
One of these boda men is seen wearing a safe Boda jacket as they pass through the different locations which cameras were able to capture.
The safe Boda company has been contacted to help in anyway locate their rider
It is said they were following the General's car from his home in Bukoto up to Kisasi where they opened fire.
Last night, a vigil was held in Bukoto at the General's home to mourn the loss of Brenda.
Several Public figures such as NUP president Robert Kyangulanyi, hon. Mathias Mpuuga, Robert Kayanja among others reached out.
Some celebrities such as Juliana Kanyomonzi, Winnie Byanima Kiiza who couldn't reach them called and sent their condolences through social media.
The body of the late Brenda was not at the vigil and was still in the morgue and a postmortem was underway.
General Katumba is still in the hospital and is supposed to go through surgery to extract the bullets that injured him.
In a phone video recording on the hospital bed, he told Ugandans that one bullet had been extracted and the other one is stuck in a major artery.
Doctors are still advising and finding a way forward on how to extract the other bullet stuck in the arteries.
He thanked all Ugandans for their kind messages and prayers and Malcolm hospital for the first aid they gave to him that helped to stop the bleeding.
He also thanked the president H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni for all the phone calls he made to him and checking up on him.
The President and Police force have promised to find the criminals who did this and justice will be served for the families of both Brenda and Haruna
May the soul of Brenda Nantongo and Haruna Kayondo rest in peace.
