Since last year, Eddy Kenzo and recently appointed minister for minerals, Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro's closeness has been subject to intense scrutiny, with many interpreting their bond as potentially romantic.
For instance a few days ago, Hon Phiona Nyamutoro assumed the role of Minister of State for Energy and Minerals Development (Minerals) after a cabinet reshuffle.
Eddy Kenzo was among the first key public figures to send her congratulatory messages on her new appointment, drawing attention for the sincerity and warmth of his message.
In response, Hon. Nyamutoro reciprocated the gesture, further fueling speculation about the true nature of their connection.
Their exchange of sweet words only added fuel to the ongoing debate .
Over the weeked, Hon Nyamutoro and Eddy even appeared together at his daughter’s school Visitation Day.
While in an interview with Sanyuka Tv on Tuesday evening, March 26, Eddy Kenzo denied any dating rumors.
He said that they are simply very close and good friends.
Another photo appeared of the singer wearing the same jacket as the Minister but on different days.
Asked about it too, he said that clothes have no copyright on them. Anyone can wear anything and he can’t be explaining things like clothes.
The Balipila Boda singer wished her all the best in her new job saying it’s a big challenge. He maintained that they are good friends but said that people should watch the space.
“Phiona and I are simply very good friends and there is nothing big about it. People should just know that we are right buddies and nothing more. I’m just happy for her in her new ministerial job and wish her all the best in serving her country."
While some observers remain convinced that Eddy Kenzo and Hon. Phiona Nyamutoro are more than just friends, others argue that their public interactions may simply reflect a close friendship or professional rapport.
It should however be noted that in the recent past, there have been photos of different women making rounds on social media that are linked to Kenzo. These among others include but not limited to the following;

The rumors were fueled after they were spotted at the same hotel in Dubai where Eddy Kenzo had gone to perform at the ‘One Africa Music Fest’ 2018 while Lydia had gone on vacation.
Speaking in an interview with KFM’s Malaika Nyanzi and Brian Mulondo in Jan 2019, the singer was asked whether the allegations were true but he flatly denied saying it is not true.
