In a cabinet meeting held today, the cabinet agreed on resumption of school for continuing students amidst STRICT following of SOPs.
However, the resumption of schools according to the agreement excludes pre-primary learners(nursery), siting that these are more prone to getting infected by Covid-19 compared to the rest of the learners.
Learners in semi candidate classes (primary six, form three and form five) are expected to resume earlier and study for short term and also study in shifts where necessary. The candidates are set to sit for their finals in March and April.
This is expected to create enough studying rooms for the continuing students whose return to school dates are yet to be confirmed. It is rumored that the president of Uganda H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni is expected to announce the resumption dates on Thursday 4th/2021.
This also comes amidst rumors that the scientific committee has rubbished the news of schools resumption. All in all, both parents and their children are frustrated, given they've stayed with each other the longest time, that's 11 months since the lockdown in March last year.
