Security forces have announced a shs20 million bounty for information leading to the apprehension of two individuals believed to be responsible for the two explosions that occurred on Saturday night, resulting in one injury.
Deputy UPDF spokesperson, Col Deo Akiiki, revealed in a statement that the incidents involved improvised explosive devices (IEDs) detonating in Kikubamutwe parish in Kabalagala and another in Nabweru, Nansana Municipality. Col Akiiki provided details on the events.
“The IED that exploded in Nabweru was allegedly brought by two young men yesterday after hiring that house for three months and left a bag in the room where the explosion took place. The IED that exploded in Kabalagala was left at a veranda of a house in a busy street.” he stated.
In an effort to expedite the investigation, the army has released two photos of the suspected individuals linked to the blasts and has issued a shs20 million bounty for any information leading to their capture. Col Akiiki emphasized the ongoing nature of the investigation while urging the public to exercise vigilance and heightened security awareness, particularly with the approaching festive season.
He stated, “The public has been also advised to put in place security measures especially on gatherings including bus and taxi parks, places of worship, discos, parties, lodges, and bars, etc.”
As security forces intensify efforts to ensure public safety, the call for increased awareness and caution aims to preempt any potential threats during the festive period.
