SC Villa is the Uganda Premier League's most successful club and are on the course to win their first Uganda Premier league title in 20 years.
SC Villa came from behind to defeat URA 2-1 at Wankulukuku while BUL failed to win against Mbarara City and Kitara lost at Soltilo Bright Stars.
The defending Champions Vipers SC defeated Busoga United 2-1 to keep themselves in the title race. This win means they are one point behind SC Villa.
If SC Villa defeat NEC at Lugogo they will win their first UPL title in 20 years but anything less than a win could see BUL or Vipers SC as the champions.
SC Villa are at the top of the Uganda Premier league with 54 points. Vipers SC and BUL are in second and third place respectively with both teams one point behind SC Villa. Kitara are fourth with 51 points and KCCA are fifth with 48 points.
URA were looking to continue their unbeaten streak against SC Villa after Bruno Bunyaga’s 79th minute goal put them ahead. However, two goals from SC Villa, the first from Umar Lutalo in the 82nd minute and the second from Kenneth Ssemakula in the 87th minute saw SC Villa win the match.
If SC Villa win the league, coach Dusan Stojanovic will be the second straight Serbian coach to win the league with them. Micho Sredojevic, former Uganda Cranes coach, is the last coach to win the league with SC Villa in 2004.
Any other result rather than a win for SC Villa and Vipers beat Mbarara City at Kitende or BUL defeat Busoga United in the Jinja Derby will see SC Villa heartbroken as they were last season.
Goals from Milton Karisa and Abdul Nsereko in the 21st and 68th minutes respectively gave Vipers SC a 2-1 win against Busoga United at the Fufa Technical Centre in Njeru. Busoga United's defeat to Vipers gave UPDF a chance of surviving the drop on the final day as they were victorious against Maroons in a game that ended 2-1 in favour of UPDF.
Busoga United, Gadaffi FC and UPDF are all still in the fight for survival on the final day. A win against BUL will ensure safety for Busoga United, while UPDF must win and hope Busoga and Gaddafi falter for them to survive the drop.
These are the results from Match week 28;
SC Villa 2-1 URA, Busoga United 1-2 Vipers SC, Mbarara City 0-0 BUL, KCCA 4-0 Wakiso Giants, Soltilo Bright Stars 1-0 Kitara and UPDF 2-1 Maroons.
