Finally, the Gwanga Mujje concert did happen and guess what. It was filled to full capacity Singer! Well, however much many Ugandans kept criticizing Jose Chameleone for his stage that fell in, his sharp touches and his aggressive behavior, this still did not deter them from filling Lugogo Cricket Oval to the brim.
In the evening there was a threatening cloud which made revelers worry about whether the concert would happen. Fortunately however, the anointing oil that Chameleone got from House of Prayer Ministries was no joke as the rain only threatened but did not even fall for longer than 10 minutes in certain areas.
Singer Jose Chameleone’s much-anticipated ‘Ggwanga Mujje’ concert at Lugogo Cricket Oval definitely sold out and also attracted thousands of fans from across the country. There were people who came in from different parts of Uganda like Kotido , Kabale , Mbale and so on and so forth
A one Peter Omoding, 25, said he traveled all the way from Kotido in north eastern Uganda to attend Chameleone’s show, saying he is his favorite musician and therefore he had to be part of this great show that was to go down in History.
By 5:00pm on Friday, Lugogo Cricket Oval was almost filled to capacity. The VIP section was overbooked as fans scrambled for seats. The main musician’s appearance on stage was preceded by several performances of local artistes. Chameleone, who took to the stage at around 9:10pm, described himself as “a national asset” that must be cherished and preserved.
“Thank you for embarrassing my enemies. They don’t know you love me so much ” Chameleone told his excited fans.
The singer's attire also excited revelers as he was dressed like the former president of Zaire. It is said that his attire flew in and was picked up by an entire convoy with security as well, something that created a stir amongst fans. Some fans even turned up at the event just to catch a glimpse of this attire.
Jose Chameleone started off with the ‘Wale Wale’ hit, electrifying the eagerly waiting crowds. He has always been Known for his highly energetic performances, so he pwned the stage pretty well. The 43-year-old musician later rolled out ‘Kipepeo’ before singing ‘Nekolela Mali’.
Revellers said the music, sound and ambience were on point and his performance was as electrifying, powerful and jawdropping as it always was in any of his concerts. Surrounded by backup dancers and a band, Chameleone did a good job of keeping his fans on their toes as they danced to his tunes
