The president of Uganda, H.E Yoweri Kaguta Museveni yesterday instructed a total lockdown to the whole country for a period of 42 days which began yesterday at 10pm.
The country had only gone 11 days off the initial 42 days of partial lockdown which saw interdistrict movement banned. However, this didn't stop the spread of covid-19 according to the president.
Hence, yesterday he instituted fresh 42 days of total lockdown. Among the suspended activities include public and private transport, with exception of essential workers.
Markets like Kikuubo, Nakasero, Owino and shopping arcades were also suspended for 42 days. To the surprise of the security team, many traders flocked the city center early morning today, only to find all shops closed and markets unaccessible.
Many of these were seen complaining and claiming that they don't have what to feed their families but this didn't stop the security officials to chase them away.
While the situation seemed to be getting out of hand, Amy men were deployed to help curb the situation. Boda bodas too were seen driving at fast speed but had no passengers. What's the situation in your area code?
