In a closely contested by-election, Dr. Eunice Apio Otuko, the flag bearer for the Uganda People's Congress (UPC), has emerged as the winner with a total of 15,718 votes.
The Electoral Commission's returning officer, Richard Onabo, declared Apio the victor, securing 47.38% of the valid votes cast.

Apio faced off against Samuel Okello Engola of the National Resistance Movement (NRM), Freddy Newton Okello representing the Democratic Party (DP), and Daniel Okello from the National Unity Platform (NUP).
Samuel Engola, son of the late former Oyam North MP Charles Okello Engola, garnered a commendable 15,161 votes, securing a strong position in the race.
Freddy Newton Okello, the DP candidate, trailed behind with 714 votes. Meanwhile, Daniel Okello of the NUP received the least number of votes, tallying at 403.
The by-election attracted significant voter turnout, with a total of 32,751 votes cast. However, 755 votes were deemed invalid due to various reasons.
