Last night in Cotonou, Ivory Coast, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) confirmed the groups and the teams from which the continent's representatives at the 2026 FIFA World Cup are to be declared.
The tournament which is to be hosted by the 3 North American countries; Canada, Mexico and United States of America between June - July 2026 across 16 cities will be the first to have 48 teams participating, with 16 more teams being added.
Uganda Cranes, was placed in group G, which has Algeria, Botswana, Somalia, Guinea and Mozambique. Uganda has already faced the Norh African giants Algeria in the ongoing AFCON qualifiers, so this will be another encounter on the big stage.
Each of the nine groups has got 6 teams and whichever team that will top its group after all games will qualify automatically to the World Cup tournament while the four best group runners up will face participate in play-off matches to get the two teams that will continue to the inter-continental stage.
