Yesterday the Ministry of Health announced that five new variants have been detected in Uganda.
These variants are from Nigeria, South Africa ,UK and India.
The fifth variant has been home grown die to the previous corona cases and will be named soon.
The government is yet to organise new measures on how to tackle this issue and make sure Ugandans are safe and can treat the cases so as not to be like India.
A ban on flights from India is under discussion and more tests at the airport are to be done so as to detect the variant early.
The variant from India kills the age group of 35 years and below unlike the first one which killed those of 40 years and above.
Ugandans on hearing this news are now panicking and preparing for another lockdown which is speculated.
News reaching our desk is some private universities have moved their exams from June to May and want to close the semesters early.
Last year when a lockdown was announced on March 18th 2020, most universities had just started their semesters and students were meant to do tests.
Due to lockdown, semesters were disorganized and most graduations were pushed. Many students are also a semester behind and the general school calendar according to UNEB was changed.
To all Ugandans, Please remember to wear your masks and follow SOPs.
