Medical interns in many parts of the country have since the weekend gone on a strike protesting the poor working conditions and low pay.
Many of these interns had also quit working, claiming their voices have to be heard. The government has however responded to their strike in a rather demoralizing way.
Yunus Kakande, the ministry of health representative came out and told the doctors that there's no money for salary increment. "The government always pays civil servants money that's availed. At the moment there's no money to increase salaries of medical workers." Said Yunus while addressing a journalist.
He also advised the concerned parties to go formal and use dialogue while addressing their issues. "There's a full ministry of public service. Whoever has grievances should go through it. So should the medical interns."
This is however not the first time doctors and health practitioners striked over salary increment. During lockdown those who did so were unfortunately REPLACED! Will this be the case even this time?
