Since the second wave of covid-19 hit the country around mid April this year, cases have been going up crazily and hospitals both private and government hospitals have been overwhelmed with patients.
Due to this case, important materials like oxygen have been extremely scarce and in some hospitals, they've totally run out of oxygen!
This in turn saw medical fees shoot up, making access of medication extremely hard for the ordinary Ugandan. At the moment, a patient requiring oxygen has to be with at least 10m every day spent at the hospital.
Such crazy fees have forced the head of the Anti Corruption committee in the office of the president, Lt. Edith Nakalema to come out and warn private hospitals with high medical fees that they risk being arrested.
While speaking to journalists, Nakalema said they're in touch with the Uganda Police Force and UPDF to ensure such hospitals are got and punished.
What are the medical fees in your area?
