Unconfirmed rumors have been spreading among Ugandans especially in the urban areas of Kampala, Wakiso and Mukono about a 5day riot by the opposition supporters and their leaders, to show their grievances towards the recently concluded elections where they believe they were massively cheated.
The rumors involved people being told not to dare report to their work stations between 3rd and 7th this month, cars also were warned to stay off roads, people told to stock utilities among others.
ICT minister Judith Nabakooba actually came out to release a warning to both the citizens and opposition members about the anticipated ‘struggle.’ The minister assured the nation to worry not and the country was well protected.
While addressing the NUP candidates who lost out in the election at his residence in Magere, Kyagulanyi Robert Ssentamu who's also the party president and former presidential candidateassured the nation that there no riots/protests happening in the country.
“There rumors that we’re going to protest. I also didn’t know about them until Minister Judith Nabakooba and major Lokech talked about it. I request the journalists to go and ask the two where they got the information from. I call upon Ugandans to stay calm, tomorrow feel free to go to your work and also go and vote the councilors.”
There, you have it from the 'principle' himself. Y'all who had locked yourselves in houses, you can now go on with your daily routine.
