Dancehall musician Michael Mukwaya, best known as Mikie Wine has clarified the reason behind choosing the date for his concert, which happens to coincide with fellow artist Gravity Omutujju's event.
Gravity recently announced his concert, 'Embaga Ya Isma N’amina', scheduled for the 7th of September at Lugogo Cricket Oval.
Shortly after, Mikie Wine revealed his own concert, 'Tusabale Ku Jahazi Pier', set to take place in Munyonyo on the same date as Gravity's concert.
Some social media users have raised concerns about this overlap, suggesting ill intentions.
However, Mikie Wine has denied any involvement in a feud with Gravity.
While appearing on Spark Tv on Tuesday evening, June 11, the Yanimba singer explained that he often performs at other artists' concerts and fans have been inquiring about his own show.
The date was initially chosen to coincide with his son's birthday on the 2nd, but due to it being a weekday, he rescheduled it to the 7th to celebrate his son's birthday.
"I have participated in many concerts by other artists, and my fans have been asking about my own concert date. I had already booked the 7th for my event, initially planning it for my son's birthday on the 2nd. There is no ill will behind this decision," Mikie Wine stated.
Meanwhile, this is not the first time two Ugandan artists are staging their concerts on the same day. In case you have forgotten, remember the story of Pallaso and Alien Skin.
On the evening of Monday, May 29, 2023, around 8pm, a video circulated on the internet showing artist Pius Mayamja, also known as Pallaso, physically assaulting fellow artist Alien Skin.
In the video, Pallaso can be heard mentioning something about respect, although his words are barely audible.
Undoubtedly, Alien Skin must have committed a grave and disrespectful act to provoke such a reaction from Pallaso.
Reports surfaced that Alien Skin had intruded on Pallaso's rehearsal and boasted about his fame, claiming he did not require any practice.
This incident led to a physical altercation between the two artists, leaving Uganda in shock! Alien Skin then proceeded to announce his concert dates, coinciding with Pallaso's 'One Love Concert.' The nation was left in disbelief, hoping for a resolution.
Despite the situation initially appearing as a joke, Alien Skin managed to secure clearance for his concert, causing a frenzy on social media with slogans like 'wuuhuu' and 'sityadanger.'
