There have been claims of Hollywood lacking originallity as they always produce identical films.
These identical films are commonly known as Twin films. They tend to have the same plot points, relating themes and are often released within a year of first films release.
Some of the examples of these twin films are the 2011 fimls Friends With Benefits and No Strings Attached. To add on to these we recognise the similarity in Olympus Has Fallen and White House Down.
The explanation behind such scenarios is based on people's thoughts and analysing of the situation that has been going on in the movie industry.
The reason why studios release eerily similar flicks is that most studios do not like the idea of green lighting films that they do not think have any earning potential considering the fact that the cost of films has gone up over the years.
With the costs going higher, the studios have had to get tighter with the career so if any one does not guarantee executive on existing market, sequel or spin off potential then they are among the stars that only have dreams but will never be cast on to the big screens.
The studios do not mind copying each other so long as the movie is making money. It is just like the fashion companies that will produce an outfit that screams similarity but the designers will not mention a word so long as money is coming in.
The greater goal of making any business is to bring in big money at the end of the day so as any business person, you would not turn down something that promises a great fortune just because someone else already brought it out on market before you did. The issue is how much has come in?
Well fans created a sort of site where they talk about these “twin films” so that they do not go unnoticed but in doing so they opened the eyes of business strategy and how business actually works.
In the long run, this actually promotes competition among the film producers as well as the actors and actresses making them determined to bring better content onto the table in case their movie is ranked lower than the twin movie or something of the sort.
The great explanation behind the continuous production of identical films is business language.
Could this be the real reason behind it?
