Winnie Nwagi has always been the voice of the voiceless, right? She always come out to address oppression whenever she sees it and even when she is never backed up, she never backs down but puts up a good fight in order to get fair treatment. Well, Winnie Nwagi has another issue and this time, it is with music promoters abroad.
According to Nwagi, an artiste that has been called to perform abroad is very important and should be treated as such. Nwagi emphasized that when you fly out comfortably as a musician, that also means you are bound to give your best performance to your fans and the vice versa is also true.
In a recent statement, Winnie Nwagi made a plea to promoters in the diaspora to prioritize the comfort and well-being of musicians by considering accommodating them in business class rather than the uncomfortable economy class when flying out for performances.
According to Nwagi, Musicians have contributed so much to the economy and she feels they are not as appreciated ass they ought to be. She therefore mentioned that it would be only fair to provide them with a more comfortable travel experience, not only a gesture of appreciation but also a means to enhance their performance because when they are treated well, they tend to be more productive!
Winnie stated that she had the chance to experience the business class flight during her flight to Germany for a performance and according to her, she feels pumped already. She therefore urged promoters to give this some thought, saying that if they are financially limited, they should save up money first before inviting artists over.
“Please first save enough money to make sure u going to treat artists like the stars they are. We’re already facing enough unfair treatment in this industry so we deserve better. Of course it’s exciting to be travelling but we don’t take advantage of Artists’ excitement. Our music and the demand are why u get to book us meaning we both need one another so don’t treat us like you’re doing us favors. Start booking Business class for every artiste that deserves it. Enough is enough… Give us your best in treatment so we can as well give u our best in performance.” Said Nwagi
