The music industry is indeed a very diverse area. Some people that come to the Ugandan music industry are welcomed while some are shunned away.
Well, the same happened to female musician Maureen Kabasita. She was not welcomed as she had anticipated or expected but according to her, it was not because of her lack of talent but rather a few individuals that misguided her and made her make the wrong choices in regards to her music.
Maureen Kabasita came out in the media and stated that for her failed career, one of the individuals that are to blame is Ziza Bafana. Maureen stated that Ziza Bafana failed her and made her choose the wrong path in her music career.
In an interview on Sanyuka television, Kabasita mentioned how she had dropped doing a particular style of music that she knew best and resorted to doing dancehall, all because of Ziza Bafana. According to her, she was previously meant to do a different genre of music but Ziza put her aside and convinced her to jump onto a track with him.
On that dancehall song where she sung with Ziza Bafana, she mentioned that it did not even feel right as the song sounded so unlike her and it came out funny. According to Maureen, the song was even too vulgar for no reason. This however did not end there as they had to think of a stunt in order to promote the vulgar song.
As a way to promote the song, her manager and Ziza Bafana came up to her with the suggestion that they record a video snippet whereby Maureen acted as if she had been drugged and be seen puffing weed. According to Maureen, she did not refuse this as it was suggested to her but unfortunately, not only was the song rejected by music lovers but even the stunt never gathered any sort of attention from netizens.
Well, according to Maureen, she stated that she now regrets having gone to such heights just to promote music yet she was not even supposed to be a dancehall musician in he first place.
Well, Dancehall singer Ziza Bafana has retaliated after hearing these words from Kabasita and has made his clap back at her, stating that if there is anyone that destroyed Her career, it was herself and no one else is to blame.
When Ziza Bafana was asked to respond to Kabasita’s comments, he was clear when he stated that no one forced her to do dancehall. According to him, Maureen is just cursed and instead of admitting this fact, she has chosen to go around looking for whom to blame for her musical failure.
According to Ziza Bafana, the song he recorded with Maureen did not make it simply because she failed to clear her share of the studio charges and when it came to the video shoot, she excluded him and made sure he did not appear in the song.
