After being voted coach of the year on Thursday at the #PilsnerSUPLAwards, coach Alex Isabirye is rumored to have quit Vipers FC job. Isabirye saw the "venoms" to their successive double, having cliinched the Star Times Uganda Premier League title on the last day and the Stanbic Uganda Cup.
While the rumor is yet to be confirmed, the mood at St. Mary's Stadium shows that Isabirye might have put up his boots down and is on his way out of the club much as the club is yet to make any official statement about Isabirye's situation.
Isabirye was last seen at the Vipers Stadium in Kitende on Thursday, in what many saw as his last appearance, where he also presumably said his goodbyes to the players and staff present.
While the main reason for his rumored departure is unkown, the corridor news indicate that he (Isabirye) felt his authority as head coach had been lowered, especially when it came to key decisions like player signings.
Amidst all the rumors, Isabirye has dismissed them, and said he's still under contract with Vipers FC. "There are so many rumours going around that I have left the job, resigned, this and that, That's their (reporters) job, because if they don't do that, where will they get money for feeding their kids. So, let's concentrate here, let's work, let's do the job," he said.
