The English premier League, a league that never runs out of shockers, did produce another masterclass over the weekend. It all began with Aston Villa whooping stuborn Brighton 6-1, in a match where Olly Watkins registered a hat-trick. Villa's only goal came from Barcelona loanee, youngster Ansu Fati.
Drama would later follow as Manchester United suffered their fourth loss of the season to Crystal Palace. The hosts (Manchester United) conceded in the 25th and Aderson's goal was enough to help the visitors take all 3points form Old Trafford.
Elsewhere, Arsenal were having a feast as they scored four past Bournemouth. Goals from in-form Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard, Kai Havertz and Ben White helped the Gunners take all the three points.
The defending champions on the other hand were handed their first defeat of the season by Wolves. Ruben Dias' own goal gave Wolves the lead in the 13th minute and the hosts held onto it until the end of the first half.
Julian Alvarez equalized for the visitors in the 58th minute but the defending champions didn't celebrate for long as Hee-Chang Hwang restored Wolves' lead in the 66th minute. The visitors kept knocking at Wolves' door but luck was not on their side and hence facing their first defeat of the season.
Another contoversial game was between Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspurs. The match ended 2-1 in favor of Spurs, thanks to an own goal from Joel Matip that came in the 96th minute. However earlier in the game Liverpool were shown two red cards, for Diogo Jota(69th minute) and Curtis Jones (26th minute).
The visitors also had Luis Diaz's goal disallowed by VAR in the early minutes of first half, a decision that was later rendered null by the VAR committee. The outburst saw the committee come out and apologize publicly and also relieving the VAR officials off their duties.
With Manchester City's loss to Wolves, it now means that there's only two unbeaten clubs in this season's competition, that is Arsenal and Tottenam Hotspurs. The former however might lose the unbeaten braging rights next weekend in case they lose to Manchester City.
