For so long, singer Ibrahim Mayanja alias Big Eye has been a staunch supporter of the NRM party. He decided to choose NRM as his camp and therefore he lost a very huge fan base because of this. Whenever Big Eye tried to perform on stages, he was always shunned down and thrown off the stage or at the very least, he was shut down.
Big Eye reached a point where he begged fans, amidst tears to let him perform like he used to because he was soon going to loose his music career because of the harsh treatment he always received on the stage.
Big Eye recently however has come out to face the public with his new song entitled Uganda Olemwa. In this new song,Big Eye condemns the Government over the highly priced commodities in the country and blames the government for not lifting a finger to aid the struggling Ugandans.
Big Eye goes ahead to urge the Government to come out with counter measures rather than telling the masses statements like 'resort to cassava' or telling people that the two solutions to these outrageous commodity prices are either 'kukekereza' (saving) or 'kwesonyiwa' (abandoning) the use of certain commodities.
Whereas the new hit is meant to touch many, some fans are still not touched but rather, they are angry at Big Eye. Fans mentioned that Big Eye did not do this for the solidarity of the Country but rather he did it for himself because he needs a way to climb back up the ladder in his music. Many urge that he saw how his music career was fading so he decided to chip in and try to rectify his errors by acting like he was against the regime yet he had already chosen his side
