The Covid-19 task force led by the prime minister Rt. Hon. Robinah Nabbanja is set to meet with the president today and discuss the progress of the Covid-19 fight and the re-opening of the economy come January next year.
Despite the increased infection in the past days, especially due to the new Omicron Variant, the Minister Baryomunsi re-empasized that the economy will re-open regardless. "We know that the new variant is on the rise but that will not stop us from re-opening as we promised Ugandans. We however encourage them to continue following SOPs and most imortantly Vaccinate." said the minister.
He farther said that if the infection gets extreme, the re-opening might just be staggered but NO LOCKING DOWN the country again. Since the virus was confirmed in March last year, the country has registered 134,348 positve cases, 3275 death caes and over 10million Ugandans have been vaccinated with at least one dose each.
The schools are also preparing to re-open come the 10th of January, the bar owners and artists are also gearing to resume work. All eyes are on the president and the task force to find out if they're keeping their word of we are getting "another 21 days."
