Cranes crush out of CHAN after a 5-2 thumping by Morocco
    • January 27, 2021 • 4 years ago

For the fifth time, the Uganda cranes failed to qualify for the quarter finals of the CHAN tournament! The team lost 5-2 to defending champions Morocco and finished bottom of group C with only one point. Saidi Kyeyune and Ibrahim Orit scored the two goals for the cranes.

After performing well in the pre-CHAN tournament where the Cranes played against the teams including the hosts Cameroon, the fans were confident that this time round we would qualify to the next round. Unfortunately, history just repeated itself in Douala last night ????

While speaking to journalist Usher Komugisha after the match, Cranes Coach Jony McKinstry said the intensity at CHAN was different and the team was comprised of young and inexperienced players.

This exit from the competition left many Ugandans infuriated and many called for the sacking of the Irish international, many stating that it’s high time FUFA started trusting Ugandan coaches.   Here's how the Cranes performed in the group stage.

Uganda Cranes 0-0 Rwanda                Uganda Cranes 1-2 Togo                      Uganda Cranes 2-5 Morocco
